Apotropaic Demons, Illustration
Some people think demons are in the underworld waiting for the unlucky souls, others think they are the manifest of something undesirable or malignant in their daily life. I believe demons are entities that we create to protect us from others like them. In this illustration work, I explore different archetypes that help us to understand the presence of modern malignant entities and give them a face tame this concepts.
Supposedly having the power to avert evil influences or bad luck.
Late 19th century: from Greek apotropaios ‘averting evil’, from apotrepein ‘turn away or from’ + -ic.
